Hey, everybody. I hope you had a freakin’ fantastic month of July. Hurricane Beryl ended up being much crazier than any of us here in the Houston area expected and knocked trees down all across my neighborhood. We are all good and things are looking brighter as we head into time for the kids to get back to school. So why don’t we talk about that there convention I went to last week???
Nice hotel, be a shame if they…. let in the riff raff. Oh great, here he is.
Texas Author Con 2024 took place at the Hilton Richardson-Dallas and if you stay the night at that place they give you free breakfast. Nooooice.
See? I wasn’t lying.
Now I could ramble on about how fun it was to meet readers and how nice and welcoming all of the authors were, but why don’t we just get into like a whole bunch of pictures? Eh?
That’s me. My names Chris. Nice to meet you.
This is Joe Landsdale, he is kind of like, a big deal. He signed my copy of his novel that dropped that day called Sugar on the Bones. That’s a title that is spooky and sweet, just like Joe
Here is Joe and the group that presented him with his lifetime achievement award that will now be named after him. Everyone did a really great job here paying tribute. Told you he was a big deal.
This is Ronald Malfi. He is also kind of a big deal. After I went to meet him and Joe I sat down and shook with adrenaline for a solid 5 minutes. Both very nice guys. He signed my copy of Come With Me.
Here is the incomparable L. P. Hernandez. He signed my copy of Dreadful Nostalgia which we both have a story in.
This is Candace Nola. She was very welcoming and took steps to help mentor me about cons and let me know that I could reach out to her for help with anything. Very grateful that she was willing to do that because I was a ball of nerves.
This is Rowland Bercy Jr. He sat right behind me and was very kind and welcoming. He was also on the Extreme Horror Panel which you can see right….
HERE! This panel was great. They introduced me and the audience to a ton of books that are sure to make us hide under the blanket or vomit in disgust. Good stuff…
And I guess I will stop with the pictures there because Substack is warning me that I am “reaching my email length limit” and that I’m “sharing too many pictures” and that I need to “just shut up and wrap it up already.
Well, ok, Substack. I guess I can do that if you say so. Thank you all for subscribing, I hope you enjoyed the pictures from my very first convention as an author and I look forward to rambling on in your inbox in the future.
So, until next time. I will….
Miss you, miss you…
